A Year of Making, Messes, and Magic ✂️✨

Hi, Reader!

I just released my Year in Review Video, and I’d love for you to watch it.

This is one of those videos you can put on while you’re doing something else. Fold laundry. Work on a project. Tidy your sewing table. I’ll hang out with you and talk through what I made, researched, explored, and obsessed over this year — a creative body double, whenever you need one.

It’s a look back at a year that was equal parts chaos and creativity:

  • Embroidered Santa overalls (yes, Santa rides a dragon)
  • Cloaks, skirts, aprons, corsets, and historical garments from Renaissance to 18th century
  • Museum costume inspiration from Indianapolis, St. Louis, and beyond
  • Wedding dresses, alterations, and heirloom projects
  • Teaching dance, teaching sewing, hyperfocus projects, pivots, and restarts
  • The best tool I made all year: a dress form that actually looks like me

This video is also a reminder — for me, and maybe for you — that even when life is rough and the house ooks like a disaster, a lot still gets done. Sometimes we forget that.

Almost everything you’ll see has footage behind it that hasn’t been edited yet. If a project sparks your curiosity, tell me — your comments genuinely help me decide what to focus on next (hello, ADHD).

If you enjoy:
✔️ slow creative companionship
✔️ sewing and textile rabbit holes
✔️ historical clothing inspiration
✔️ honest, imperfect making

…I think you’ll enjoy this.

Thanks for being here, for watching, and for making things in whatever way you can. I hope this video keeps you company — and maybe reminds you how much you’ve done too.

Happy New Year,
Alice
The Fabric Ninja

P.S. Come share what you’re making in the Fabric Ninja Sewing Circle on Facebook — I’d love to see it.

Right now I could use some help from my parenting team. The Ninja kids are at that age when it's both hard to teach them "because they know everything" (eyeroll) and rewarding to teach them because they learn so quickly. They are human sponges for knowledge, as long as it's not coming from Mom.... another eye roll. (I wonder if their eyes hurt from all that eye rolling. :-) ) Even though they don't want me to be the expert, they love learning from other people. We use this strategy at girl...

Hi, Reader! Something NO ONE tells you about crafting with a Cricut machine is the technical side of things.
