help from your parenting team

Right now I could use some help from my parenting team. The Ninja kids are at that age when it's both hard to teach them "because they know everything" (eyeroll) and rewarding to teach them because they learn so quickly. They are human sponges for knowledge, as long as it's not coming from Mom.... another eye roll. (I wonder if their eyes hurt from all that eye rolling. :-) )

Even though they don't want me to be the expert, they love learning from other people. We use this strategy at girl scout meetings. Another parent helps my kid, and I help theirs. It makes it all work better. It does take a village of friends, parents, and grandparents.

So this summer I'm going to be leaning on other people through the Life Skills Camp to teach my kids, and myself along the way.

The #LifeSkillsNow summer camp is packed with expert leaders in finance, medicine, nutrition, business, and education—people who are stepping in to help teach the skills that schools and parents often don’t have time to cover.

Here are my families top picks:

  • It’s Ok to Wonder, Here’s How to Ask (the skill of respectfully interacting with someone who looks visibly different) with Sonali Vongchusiri
  • How to Make Traditional Japanese Onigiri (Rice Balls) with Amy Nesbitt
  • Step by Step Guide to Meal Planning from Teens Cook Real Food (Ninja daughter just turned pescatarian so we need this)
  • Why Most Young Entrepreneurs Quit (And Why You Won’t) Derrick Kinney
  • Keeping Those Veggies Alive All Season: Weeding, Watering, and Feeding [Part 3 of 4: Vegetable Gardening Series] with Andrew Pleasant (House Ninja is growing a garden for our pet rats this year)
  • The Basics of How to Crochet Kara Hubbard
  • Soft Skills to Get Unstuck for Neurodivergent Brains with Debbie Reber (Oh I need this so bad)

What you’ll get:

  • Short, engaging video workshops for kids and teens
  • Real experts teaching practical life skills
  • Built-in “missions” so kids take action offline right away
  • And very little TOS (“time on screen”) to get real results

This is lifelong learning in action. The kind that happens outside the classroom—and you don’t have to plan a thing.

While others focus on screen limits, this is about screen purpose.

Smart parenting means harnessing tech to teach real-world skills—and #LifeSkillsNow has done all the curating for you.

The free camp runs June 8-12, and early-access workshops are available now.

REGISTER YOUR FAMILY FOR FREE

It’s a completely complimentary event, and it kicks off June 8th! Don’t delay!

There’s been a lot of talk since the pandemic about kids falling behind. But your kids? They’re not a statistic.

They’ll learn how to manage time, regulate emotions, care for their space, build confidence—and yes, cook, clean, budget, and plan for their future.

The list of workshops is incredible—what stands out to you?

“See” you there,
