Spooky Season - Halloween Costume Resources

Hi, Reader!

Spooky season is upon us! The skeletons are emerging from storage, the ghosts are being hung on the trees, and tombstones are littering the yards. Fall is coming! Though it was 87 yesterday, so maybe not quite yet.

As the pumpkin spice starts to flow, so do the Halloween costume ideas. I wish I could say that my kids' costumes come first, but I'm normally working on them at the 11th hour. Plus, they often change their minds. That early September idea is nowhere in sight by early October, and now it's a group costume.

I just love this time of year. Every fall my Grandmother would make what she called "can plus" soup. She started with a regular can of soup, whatever kind, and then kept adding things to make it her own creation. It was nothing like the original soup when she was done, but way better.

I do the same thing with costumes, I use pre-made basics and then I add to them. If the costume needs a black body suit, I'm probably not going to make it. I'll buy one and add the other costume elements to it. Making the best use of my time and always making sure to buy a little big for extra warmth layers.

Over the years my kids have asked me to turn them into so many different creatures and characters. I often had to figure them out at the last minute. So, I took those patterns and made them available to you, to help make your Halloween a bit easier.

Right now I could use some help from my parenting team. The Ninja kids are at that age when it's both hard to teach them "because they know everything" (eyeroll) and rewarding to teach them because they learn so quickly. They are human sponges for knowledge, as long as it's not coming from Mom.... another eye roll. (I wonder if their eyes hurt from all that eye rolling. :-) ) Even though they don't want me to be the expert, they love learning from other people. We use this strategy at girl...
